University College Faculty
Faculty are an integral part of our approach to academic success for entering students, and we have developed many ways for IUPUI faculty to bring their energy and talents to our initiatives. University College faculty appointments include the following:
The faculty of University College is composed of 40 individuals drawn from the ranks of tenured senior faculty in the degree-granting academic units at IUPUI. Appointment is competitive and is based on a demonstrated commitment to the University College mission as well as professional interests and expertise that support the current needs of the university. Faculty provide comprehensive leadership for curricular and academic policy issues of University College.
Adjunct faculty appointment to University College represents a mechanism for recognizing individuals whose campus responsibilities and contributions directly support the work of University College. Appointment criteria are the same as for faculty appointment except for the requirement of tenure.
A number of lecturers are jointly appointed with academic departments (including English, communication studies, mathematics, biology, and anthropology). These faculty teach key first-year courses in their respective fields as well as University College first-year seminars and critical inquiry courses.
