Student Support Services
Student Support Services (SSS) adds an extra layer of support, guidance, and answers throughout the college years of first generation students (neither parent has graduated from a 4-year college). This award-winning program is one of the most successful in the nation; students participating in the program have a high student retention and graduation rate. Students become a part of the SSS family for their entire time at IUPUI and can get free tutoring, academic and personal advising, and help with financial aid. SSS is a home base on campus where students have mentors, develop friendships, and have social events or just hang out! The SSS offices are located on the third floor of University College, Room UC 3130.
The Nina Scholars Program
The Nina Scholars Program is available to students at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), Ivy Tech, Arizona State University (ASU), and Maricopa Community College, Arizona. This program provides a unique opportunity where students from disadvantaged backgrounds can obtain the resources and financial support needed in order to successfully complete their college education. The Nina Scholars Program provides each student with an academic advisor/mentor, as well as a student mentor. This program covers full tuition, fees and books, and includes a $2,500 annual living allowance. The Nina Scholars Program is highly focused in all aspects on the success of its student participants.
Honors Program
The IUPUI Honors Program provides highly-motivated and creative students with additional resources and opportunities that enhance their experiences both within the classroom and beyond. Through specially-designed Honors courses with limited enrollment, opportunities for independent research, an active Honors Club, and a variety of Honors-sponsored events throughout the year, Honors students supplement their regular degree programs within a close and supportive community of fellow students and faculty. Students may choose to participate in Honors by taking occasional Honors course work, or they may elect to pursue the General Honors Notation and graduate "with Honors."
