Twenty-first Century Scholars

IUPUI has a Twenty-first Century Scholars Support Office that exists to support the academic success of all IUPUI Twenty-first Century Scholars. Our goal is to help with the transition from high school to college and to provide encouragement and direction throughout a scholar’s academic career.  What could our office need from you?  If you are an IUPUI alumni and Twenty-first Century Scholar that would like to donate your time, share your academic, professional, or personal success story, and/or resources with our office please contact Program Assistant Mrs. Sarah Vincent Pace in University College Room 3035 or phone 317-278-0621.

Upward Bound

The IUPUI Upward Bound program’s mission is to provide low-income, potential first-generation college students quality instruction and academic support that will ensure students’ successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree.

IUPUI Upward Bound’s vision is to provide training and education to under-prepared and first-generation students so that 100 percent of these students that begin post-secondary education will graduate. Upward Bound will incorporate new professional and peer-based mentoring components intended to increase student interest and strengthen self-confidence, assertiveness, and persistence. Upward Bound will also have new strategies to increase student-to-student and parent-to-student experiences.  Program components include: Academic Enrichment, Academic Tutoring, Saturday Seminars, Summer Component, Math/Science Summer Component, Bridge Component, Work-study Component, and Mentoring Component.

Special Programs for Academic Nurturing

The SPAN Division of the Honors Program at IUPUI allows pre-college-age students to take actual college courses alongside college students. Developed in 1984, SPAN is designed to help motivated students either get a head start on their college education or take courses that are not offered at their high schools.   There are two levels of entry into SPAN: the Running Start Program and the Upper Class Program. Acceptance is based upon years completed in high school and academic success.
