SPAN: Eligibility

Acceptance is based upon academic motivation, years completed in high school, and academic success. Interested students should meet the following minimal requirements for admission into IUPUI’s SPAN Division Early College Program. 

We understand that each student’s background is different. If you do not meet these qualifications, but would still like to be considered for acceptance into SPAN, please contact Marsha Baker at (317) 274-0382 or via e-mail at ucspan@iupui.edu to discuss your situation in more detail.

 

UPPERCLASS PROGRAM

  • High school class rank in the upper 15% for seniors
  • High school class rank in the upper 10% for juniors
  • SAT scores of 1200 or ACT score of 29
  • Written endorsement from your high school principal or counselor

 

RUNNING START PROGRAM

  • Freshmen and Sophomores
    • Have a minimum SAT score of 1000, or ACT score of 21, or PSAT score of 95
    • Rank in the upper 10% of their high school class with a grade point average of 3.3 or higher
    • Homeschooled students: please contact the SPAN office about these requirements at 317-274-0382 or via e-mail at ucspan@iupui.edu.
  • Juniors and Seniors
    • 11th and 12th grade students interested in applying for admission to Running Start who may not have qualified while they were in their freshman or sophomore year are admitted based upon a letter of recommendation from a high school teacher or counselor and fulfillment of all of the following requirements:
      • Currently pursuing and scheduled to complete Indiana's Core 40 curriculum
      • B (3.0) or higher grade point average (GPA) for the past two semesters
      • Minimum: SAT score of 1000, or ACT score of 22, or PSAT score of 95
